Digital sovereignty and resilience are important strategic objectives. Disruptive events such as, the COVID19-pandemic, the increasing number of natural and man-made disasters and cyberincidents demonstrate the vulnerability of the supply chain and the need for a secure digital transformation. The research platform Ledger Innovation and Operation Network for Sovereignty (LIONS), as part of the research institute dtec.bw, aims to increase sovereignty and resilience of the supply chain by utilizing Distributed Ledger Technology. The technical design hereof is based on a permissioned blockchain approach upon which we build dedicated scenarios. In this article we reflect on two scenarios. Firstly, we introduce the scenario of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and trading inspired by cooperative approaches under the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement. We use a permissioned blockchain approach to shed a new light on the heavily discussed integration of numerous small emission reduction measures by the agricultural industry as an example. Secondly, we introduce an IT supply chain scenario for software intensive systems and management of secure engineering processes. Finally, we dis- cuss the potential Blockchain technologies offer in redesigning business models with financial aspects and the information flows necessary to deliver products and services.     «
